Online Account Security

As recently announced by the Securities and Futures Comission (“SFC”), they have received an increasing number of reports from securities brokers that the security of some customers’ internet and mobile trading accounts has been compromised and unauthorized securities trading transactions were conducted through these accounts.

To safeguard our customers’ online account security, Kingsway Financial Services Group Limited (“KFS”) strongly recommends you to secure your account information (including but not limited to Login ID and password), change your password periodically, not to use public computers or unknown and unsecure networks to access your online account and to keep a close eye on trade confirmations to enhance the security of your online account.

FRAUD ALERT

Kingsway Financial Services Group Limited (“KFS”) warns against fraudsters pretending to be staff of KFS in order to defraud investors of money.

KFS would like to alert the public of fraudsters pretending to be staff of KFS or its holding company, Sunwah Kingsway Capital Holdings Limited (“Sunwah Kingsway”) in order to defraud investors of money. These fraudsters will contact the public online or through social media and impersonate staff of KFS or Sunwah Kingsway. The fraudsters will then pretend to open a securities account with you. The fake account opening process is conducted entirely online. Once the fraudsters trick you into believing an account is opened, they will request that you deposit a sum of money into an individual bank account.

Additionally, from time to time on the Internet or in direct marketing channels, there are non-authorised entities that may claim themselves as partners of SWK or KFS. You should never make deposit into bank accounts in the name of non-authorised entities.

Please note that KFS has no connection with such deceptive practices, does not open accounts solely online and does not, under any circumstances, request clients to transfer funds to bank accounts that are not under KFS’s name.

SMS

You can specify a mobile phone number to receive the SMS that we sent, we will only send to your registered mobile number. And you should get a designated mobile phone that is able to receive SMS.

1. If there is any SMS sent by us that requires you to provide the information about your account or passwords, you should never reply to such SMS because we would never make such request.
2. If any SMS sent by us be unreadable, you should notify us as soon as possible.
3. We will only send the same message once a time. If you delete the message, we will not resend it again.
4. You are not obliged to reply to any message sent by us.

E-mail

You should be responsible for ensuring that your e-mail address is able to receive an E-mail

1. You should take all reasonable precautions to prevent any unauthorized or fraudulent use of your email account, and to ensure to prevent any person who, without authorization or by fraudulent means from reading your e-mail.
2. E-mail we sent may not be encrypted and protected; it may not be able to avoid being destroyed by the third party. You should be responsible for ensuring that your passwords and any other personal information or data are kept confidential.
3. If there is any Email sent by us that requires you to provide the information about your account or password, you should never reply to such Email because we would never make such request.
4. We will never require you to enter any personal information or passwords in the hyperlinks that we provide in our email.
5. If any E-mail or hyperlink sent by us be unreadable, you should notify us as soon as possible.
6. We will only send the same message once a time. If you delete the message, we will not resend it again.
7. You are not obliged to reply to any message sent by us.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold the Company, our employees, agents, officers, directors, contractors, suppliers and other representatives harmless from and against all liabilities, damages, claims, actions, costs and expenses (including legal fees), in connection with or arising from:

We refer to the Personal data (Privacy) Ordinance (the “Ordinance”) which came into force in Hong Kong in 1997.  This legislation is concerned with the collection, use and storage of data relating to individuals.

You have provided us with certain personal information which has enabled us or will enable us to provide you with investment financial services.  Such information includes your name, contact details, and certain other details such as bank account information.  The Ordinance applies to this information and we are writing to you as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with the Ordinance. 

The personal information that you have provided to us may be used for the following purposes: (a) conducting credit enquiries or check on you through credit report agencies or any other person, both in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and overseas; (b) carrying out your instructions; (c) providing you with investment management and dealing and related services; (d) providing you with information concerning our business or the businesses of other members of the Kingsway Group; (e) observing any legal, governmental or regulatory requirements; and (f) any further purposes related to the above.
